Decorating a Three-Tiered Tray for Valentine’s Day

I’m participating in a Valentine blog hop today so if you are joining me from Suzy Knapp, welcome aboard! I’m glad you could join me!

Do you decorate your house for Valentine’s Day? Other than a couple of hearts placed here and there, I’ve actually never put too much emphasis on the day of LOVE!  However, since I have a little more time on my hands now that I’m retired, I decided to spruce up my house a little bit with some hearts and love.  I mean, after all, we could all stand a little more love around the world, right?

Headed to the Dollar Store

Since I really don’t have much Valentine decor, I decided to head out to the Dollar Store to go shopping. I didn’t want to spend much money, but wanted to focus on my three-tiered tray. If you are wanting to make a decorating impact in a small space, I think the three-tiered tray is the way to go. I love to change it out for many seasons as you can see here.

The Dollar Store, where everything is $1, had several fun items to add to my decor. These are some of the things that I picked up for less than $10.

How to begin:

When decorating my three-tiered tray, I start with the largest items first. I usually like to add height to the top tier and this fun tin vase is my go-to piece.

I usually add some greenery or some picks to the vase to add even more height.

Keep going:

After I add the larger items, I begin to fill in the tray with smaller items. I usually try to add some kind of wooden piece with a quote on it. In this case, I added a plaque that I already had that says, “Love Dwells Here.” Then I cut apart the heart garland that I purchased at the Dollar Store. It was a strand of about 5 hearts and I wanted them placed throughout the tray.

Next, I add in some greenery, glassware, candy and garland. I thought the heart garland (which is really a necklace) was a fun touch.

Finally, I like to add a candle.  There is something about the glow of a burning candle that creates a warm feel to the decor.

Step back and look at your masterpiece:

Honestly, it doesn’t matter what you add. Just start grabbing things that you have or head out to the nearest store to gather a few inexpensive items. In no time, you can have a simple three-tiered tray that screams LOVE! ?

It is fun to decorate for the holidays and seasons! Decorating makes your house a home and there is nothing better than to add more LOVE to your home for Valentine’s Day! Let me know what you decided to do to add some hearts to your decor!  And may you always remember that Jesus’ love is the GREATEST LOVE OF ALL!

  1. Your post has got me thinking of ways I could do something similar for my 4 year old grandson! Thanks for the inspiration, Vickie!

  2. Your tray is so cute! I have trouble decorating mine. It’s always too busy or too sparse. I am going to follow your suggestions next time!
