“I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.” Psalm 9:1
Count your blessings
One of the songs that I remember singing when I was a little girl was:
“Count your blessings, name them one by one;
Count your blessings, see what God has done.
Count your blessings. Name them one by one.
Count your many blessings see what God has done.”
Spirit of Thankfulness
Today, I often get so wrapped in the busyness of my day that I don’t stop and count my blessings. When I really look over my life, there are so many things that I take for granted.
I never want to be ungrateful for the blessings that are surrounding me. I think we all need to develop a spirit of THANKFULNESS. What better time to do that than in the month of November!
Thankfulness Challenge
This November, I challenge all of you to begin counting your blessings and naming them one by one. To do this, just make an effort each day to write down the things that you are most thankful for. On Facebook, I’ve seen where friends write a daily post naming the things they are thankful for. I think, for children, it would be fun to print off this Thankfulness Journal.
Each day, take time to talk about all that you are thankful for with your children. Then have them choose one thing to write down everyday of the month. At the end of November, you could cut apart each blessing. Put them in a bowl to keep on your kitchen table. During the month of December at dinner, choose one blessing out of the bowl and thank God for putting this blessing in your life. This way, you have spent two months counting your blessings. What a wonderful gift to give your children!
Count your blessings
Count your blessings, name them one by one. I challenge each of you to join me in counting all of our many blessings. Share your blessings with each other, especially your children, so that we can all have a spirit of thankfulness during the month of November. Who knows? You just might turn out to be a big blessing to others!
Be Blessed,
Well I don’t have little children but I’m going to take your challenge because I have so many blessings to be thankful for. Thank you for challenging us to be thankful for all our blessings cause there are more than we can count that is for sure. One BIG blessing is that I have a niece that is very special to me and that I love very much, she is talented, a fantastic teacher/principal, wife, mom, daughter and glammy! Love you, auntie
Thank you, Auntie! I’m so thankful for you. You are so encouraging to me! I love you!
Thank you for this Vickie! I have so many blessings that I take for granted daily. I will rise up to your challenge, and write a blessings journal!
I’m the same way, Jane! I bet we all feel so grateful after the challenge!
