Heart for Jesus, Heart for School

For I Know the Plans for You

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord. “Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with your whole heart.” Jeremiah 29:11-13

Do you believe that God has a plan for your life? Can you look back over your life and see His faithfulness?

For 29 years, I was an educator. I had taught fourth grade, been an assistant principal and then retired after being an elementary school principal for over 14 years. I absolutely loved my career and the staff and students that I was able to work with over the years. However, with the constant stress of standardized testing, government mandates and changes in the school system, I became burned out. I always said that I wanted to retire when I still loved what I did and before everyone asked when I was ever going to retire. So at the end of December, 2020, I left my career and joined the ranks of retirement.

Honestly, I needed rest. I needed a chance to sit and do nothing. I needed a chance to go to sleep when I wanted and wake up when I wanted. I needed a chance to uncover my creativity again. I needed a chance to go with my husband when he wanted to travel and to be available for my grandchildren. I thought this would be the way the rest of my life would go.

But God….

God has other plans for me. Just last week, I was contacted by our local Christian school and was offered the job as the administrator. As I talked to some of the parents of the school, my spirit began to stir and I became so excited about leading this campus. Immediately, I had such peace about this opportunity.

Will I have to start setting an alarm again? Yes! But do I feel called to do this? Absolutely! Will I have to give up some travel times? Yes! But will I get to be energized by kids each day? YIPPEE!

My heart, my mind and my soul are constantly thinking about what the future holds for this school. I am excited for what God has laid on my heart. Just yesterday, I woke up with a song in my heart by Bethel Music. The lyrics are below:

God I look to You, I wont be overwhelmed
Give me vision to see things like You do
God I look to You, You’re where my help comes from
Give me wisdom, You know just what to do
God I look to You, and I wont be overwhelmed
Give me vision to see things like You do
God I look to You, and You’re where my help comes from
Give me wisdom, You know just what to do
Yeah yeah
And I will love You Lord my strength
And I will love You Lord my shield
And I will love You Lord my rock
Forever all my days I will love You God
There is no doubt that God had this planned for me. I know that He will give me the wisdom, the energy, and the knowledge to do this job to the best of my ability. And I can’t wait to get started!
Please pray for me, and pray for Plainview Christian Academy! Great things are getting ready to happen there and I am SO excited to be part of God’s plan for this school!!!
Be Blessed,
Vickie
