It is COLD all across TEXAS today! I’ve never known of another time when it is colder in Houston than it is in Alaska! We haven’t had a lot of snow, but this is as cold as I can ever remember. The wind-chill has been as low as -25 degrees. THAT IS 25 BELOW ZERO! People, we are not used to this in Texas! I know that there are lots of people across Texas without power today. Our electricity went out this morning, but came back on after a couple of hours. Isn’t it a good reality check when we are without things that we take for granted! It is so natural to just flip on the light switch every time you walk into a room. Wow! We are blessed to live in a country where electricity is just an everyday occurrence!
This is a special week in my family as we get to celebrate two great men! My Dad turned 82 yesterday and our youngest son turns 33 today! How am I possibly old enough to have a 33 year old?
My dad was a Game Warden when I was growing up. He loved his career and has so many wonderful stories to tell. I always hated it when I met someone and they would say, “I know your dad.” That usually meant that he had stopped them while they were hunting. I usually just replied with, “I’m so sorry. I hope it didn’t cost you very much.”
Our son, Jarrod, always looked forward to Pop’s birthday because he knew his birthday was the next day! He is a great guy and I’m so proud of how he turned out! He works incredibly hard to provide for his family and has just recently started his own roofing business. He is a wonderful daddy and is all about making incredible memories with his two kids. I think he is a wonderful husband as well to his sweet wife.
I hope that wherever you are, the lights are on, the heat is keeping you warm and that you have plenty of food in the pantry. We will continue to pray for the farmers/ranchers who have to make sure their livestock is taken care of, the electricians and gas guys who are working hard to make sure we have heat, and the first responders who so tirelessly work to keep us all safe.
Be Blessed!
It is times like this that make us sit up and appreciate the things we have that we normally take for granted every day! Love ya, and stay warm!
Loved reading about your family this morning. And yes! More snow and cold here today, as well. I love snow, but am praying that the power will return soon for those without and the that harsh cold is replaced with sunshine and warmth! Have a happy Thursday!
Thanks for stopping by, Leslie! I feel like I have a new, faithful friend!!!
