Heart for Jesus

A conversation with the devil

Today, I had a conversation with the devil. I mean, I had an argument with him. Let me tell you what happened.

This morning I had to run to the local Walmart to pick up some last minute Easter treats for the grandkids. As it almost always happens, not only did I get a few Easter goodies, but I also picked up some necessities and even a new pair of pjs. I was in a hurry because it was lunch time and I knew that the hubby would be home soon. Anyway, I decided to go to the self checkout aisle and I quickly scanned all my purchases and loaded them back in my cart.

The lady at the Walmart door checked my receipt, looked through my basket and then I was on my way out the door. As I started unloading the basket into my car, I noticed my pair of pjs at the bottom of the cart. Rats! I forgot to check them out. And that’s when my conversation with the devil started.  It went something like this:

Me: Darn it, I forgot to pay for the pjs.

Him: Don’t worry about it. It’s just pjs. You spend enough at Walmart to get a freebie every once in awhile.

Me: But wouldn’t that be stealing?

Him: No. After all, it’s their fault. That lady checked your basket and it was her mistake.

Me: But I know what the Bible says about stealing.

Him:  Aren’t you in a hurry? You can pay them next time you go to the store.

Me: If I believe God’s word to be true, I believe that it says DO NOT STEAL and I’m going back into the store to pay for these pjs.

          Him: (silent)

Me: Not today, Satan. Not today!!!

VICTORY!!!  Each day, we have the freedom to choose to live in the truth of God’s word or to listen to the enemy. God’s word is alive and relevant to our lives today!!!  I’m thankful to know what the Bible says and I pray that I will allow the TRUTH to lead me in my life.

Happy Easter weekend, friends!

Be Blessed,
