Heart for Jesus

The More I Seek You

The more I seek you
The more I find you
The more I find you, the more I love you
I wanna sit at your feet
Drink from the cup in your hand
Lay back against you and breath, feel your heart beat
This love is so deep, it’s more than I can stand
I melt in your peace, it’s overwhelming

Worship. What a precious word! According to Dictionary.com, worship means “the feeling or expression of reverence and adoration for a deity.”
I love to worship. I love the fact that God, the maker of our universe, is so real to me when I choose to worship Him. To know that our living God inhabits the praise of His people is overwhelming. Our praise and worship is a primary way that God works His way into our hearts and minds. When we worship, we are meant to turn all of our attention to God.
True worship is living a life that praises God for His mercy and grace, and that seeks to show others what that grace and mercy has done in our lives. When we honor God by our words and actions, God’s might and power indwells itself in us and shines through the rest of the world.

How do we worship?

Maybe you have loved God your entire life or maybe you are a new believer. In either case, sometimes we all need a reminder of how we can live out a life that is fully worshipful. Here are a few things you could try to help you in worship:

1. Spend time with God

When you wake up in the morning, start your day with God. Thank Him for your blessings. Commit your day to Him. Listen to worship music and open up a devotional or your Bible.

One thing that I have on my phone is an app called First 5. Their motto is “Let’s put God first by giving Him the first 5 minutes of each day.” They have a daily devotional and it is a good way to get my day started.

2. Pray intentionally

I love to keep a prayer journal because not only does it remind me what/who I need to pray for, but it also serves as a reminder of the way God has answered my prayers in the past. I can look back through my journals and see the countless ways that God answered a prayer, long after I forgot that I even prayed for it. “Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.” 1 Peter 5:7

In your prayer journal, make sure you keep a list of things that you are thankful for. It is always good to go to the Father with thankfulness for all He has done in your life.

3. Be still

Sometimes I think I have to do all the talking or singing when I think about worship. But God wants to speak to us, too. If we aren’t still and quiet, how can we hear from God?

There are times when I turn on some praise and worship music and just sit and be still. I love how worship music draws me close to God and I feel such a strong connection to Him.

Some of my favorite worship music includes:

The More I Seek You – by Gateway Worship

The Goodness of God – Bethel Music

Make Room – Community Music

The Blessing – Bethel Music

Defender – Francesca Battistelli

There are so many more worship songs that you can find on Spotify, Google music or Youtube.

If God inhabits the praise of His worshipers, don’t we all want to worship? I want Him to know that I need Him as I go throughout my day.

If you have never invited Him into your heart and would like more information on how to do that, please reach out. I would be honored to walk you through the steps that will change your life completely.

Be blessed,

Vickie
